From birth to death, life is an ongoing experience of growth and change. We all face challenges, obstacles, and circumstances that force us to reach out in new directions. But how do we embrace change in a manner that is meaningful? What does it take to grow in bold, dynamic, and affirmative ways? How do we avoid stagnation or defeat?
Whether it is human beings navigating the unknown, plants finding their way through concrete, or the universe expanding, we are all participating in an interconnected process of growth and evolution. How might we do so in a way that is wise and fruitful?
In our 2026 Multifaith Calendar, Growth and Change, we invite artists to reflect deeply on these perennial questions and to channel their visions of growth and change into artwork that personifies, among other things, personal development, self-discovery, and self-reflection… striving to build deeper connections within as well as reaching out to the world around us.
Wait, there's more..... We are excited to continue to bring some new design elements in our 2026 Multifaith Calendar. You will continue to see a new and easier to read font, colour coding of faith symbols to make it easier to cross-reference between the monthly grids and sidebars, and new colour coding for those observances with a religious accommodation advisement (also marked with an asterisk *). Please enjoy and we welcome any feedback you may have.
In addition, the MFC has been privileged to feature First Nations seasons and moons according to different Indigenous peoples, including Nisga'a (northwestern BC), Ojibwa (eastern BC to western Quebec and in the upper and mid-west in the US), Cree, and the Mi'kmaq nation. This year, the 2026 Multifaith Calendar once again features moons and months as observed by the Cree nation.
The Coast Salish is a group of ethnically and linguistically related indigenous peoples of the Pacific Northwest Coast, living in British Columbia (Canada) and the US States of Washington and Oregon. They are part of the Indigenous Peoples of the Pacific Northwest Coast and speak one of the Salishan languages.
