For 26 years, the Multifaith Calendar has honoured and celebrated the work of artists from across the globe.
The Calendar is published by the Multifaith Action Society, a non-profit organization committed to building and strengthening the bridges between communities.
An excellent educational resource, the Calendar combines both beauty and substance. It identifies and provides descriptions for dates of significance for 14 world religions. The Calendar also brings together art from many cultural and spiritual backgrounds in a broad array of artistic styles and mediums. This offers the public an opportunity to enjoy art from faiths and cultures they may not normally come across in their daily lives.
MAS wants to extend its gratitude to all of the artists who submitted pieces for the 2012 Multifaith Calendar.
The theme for the 2013 Multifaith Calendar is The Nature of Spirit.
Each year The Multifaith Action Society invites artists to submit works of art for publication in our upcoming Calendar. For 2013 the theme is: The Nature of Spirit. We believe this theme is open to a wide variety of interpretations - and that very fact - leaves open the possibility for a rich array of artistic submissions.
For example: Do you find “The Nature of Spirit” in the sunlight shining through the leaves? Does “The Nature of Spirit” appear for you in pieces of art, writing, music or dance? Or is “The Nature of Spirit” found within meditation, prayer and spiritual journeys? Please share your interpretations with us.
Work on this theme can be in any medium. The interpretation of the theme will be determined by the overall collection of images received. Our aim is to produce a calendar that will showcase a variety of interpretations on our theme while creating a visually cohesive calendar. We encourage all artists to submit images, including artists who have had their work showcased in past Multifaith Calendars.
